Pravin Ramesh Jadhav (born 6 July 1996) is an Indian archer who contends in the recurve discipline. He was a member of the first Indian team since 2005 to qualify for the final at the World Archery Championships in 2019; the team won the silver medal. He represented India once more at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, making his Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2020. After that, Bhujbal turned to an education officer named Mahesh Palkar for assistance, and he asked the academy to give Jadhav one more chance. Jadhav scored over 45 to keep his academy spot after being given five shots to prove himself.

Pravin Jadhav comes from a poor family. His folks are day to day labourers. He lives in one of the dry season hit towns of Satara in Maharashtra with his folks. Pravin had gone through a ton of difficulties when he was youthful as his folks couldn’t bear the cost of a legitimate or common way of life because of small wages. Since he was a young boy, Pravin was obsessed with sports. Vikas Bhujbal, a teacher at a primary school, noticed Pravin’s enthusiasm for sports and encouraged him to participate in a few school-based sports. In order to keep him fit and healthy, the coach also paid for his diet and nutrition.

Early life

Jadhav was born on July 6, 1996, into a family that worked for a daily wage. In the Satara district’s Sarade, a drought-prone village, his family lived in a shack near a drain. Jadhav would now and again go with his dad to work in the homestead, during his high school years. Jadhav began his athletic career as a child and competed in the 800 meters at the district level. However, he lacked the stamina he needed because he was malnourished. After that, his teacher, Vikas Bhujbal, paid for his training and diet, which led to improved results and selection at the Krida Parbodhini school.

Personal life

Jadhav was noticed by Colonel Vikram Dhayal, coach of the compound team, during the 2016 World Cup. In 2017, Jadhav was hired into the Indian Army under the sports quota. Starting around 2019, he is positioned havaldar. Subsequent to getting preparing for one year in Balewadi, Pune, where his 800 meters timing improved, he moved to Amravati, where he was prepared in archery. The academy considered releasing Jadhav due to his subpar performances because he was still physically weak and had trouble handling the weight of the recurve bow. After losing to China in the final, the team settled for silver.

Career

Jadhav competed for the first time for India at the 2016 Asia Cup Stage 1 in Bangkok, where he won the men’s recurve team event bronze medal. At the 2019 World Archery Championships, Jadhav was an individual from the Indian group which turned into the main men’s recurve group from the country to meet all requirements for the last beginning around 2005. India’s team of Jadhav, Atanu Das, and Tarundeep Rai defeated Canada, which was ranked sixth, to reach the knockout stage and secure a spot at the 2020 Summer Olympics. After that, they defeated hosts Netherlands and third-seeded Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

At the 2019 World Archery Championships, Pravin Jadhav won a Silver medal in the Recurve men’s team event. The Indian recurve archery team of Pravin, Atanu Das, and Tarundeep Rai became the first Indian team since 2005 to compete in the World Archery Championships final. Atanu, Tarundeep, and Pravin’s team won the quarterfinal of the Recurve men’s team competition at the 2019 World Archery Championships, defeating Canada to advance to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. • Pravin Jadhav is an Indian Archer who contended in the 2019 World Archery Championships close by Tarundeep Rai and Atanu Das.
• The team went on to qualify for the finals, becoming the first Indian archery team since 2005 to do so. Jadhav was brought up in a poor family.
• His father worked as a farm laborer for a day’s pay. It was a luxury for them to eat twice a day in a small hut near a drain. There was no power neither one of the cleans water.
• He had to deal with a lot in his life. He was going to be a laborer, but life had other plans for him. Baban Bhujbal, his primary school teacher, advised him to pursue a career in sports.
• He had intended to drop out of school after seventh grade when one of his teachers suggested that he enroll in the Krida Prabodhini, a state-run program for young sports talent.
• He accepted his place in the program. This program gives free instructing, training, and home for competitors from country regions.
• At the early age of 13, he was essential for the program and got preparing at Balewadi in Pune. However, despite Jadhav’s performance as a runner, the sports school’s series of tests demonstrated that he was qualified for archery.
• He was then shipped off Amravati to prepare under Praful Dange, an archery coach at Krida Prabodhini. Jadhav was genuinely more fragile in correlation with his companions.
• He actually had trouble carrying the recurve bow. He would encounter torment in his shoulders while terminating the bolt, which provoked Krida Prabhodini to let him out of the program.
• After that, Bhujpal tried everything to get him back into the program, but it didn’t work.
