Indian track and field athlete Subedar Major Neeraj Chopra PVSM VSM (born December 24, 1997) is the current Olympic and World champion in the men’s javelin throw. He is the first Asian athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics in the javelin event and a gold medal at the World Championship in his event. He is a Junior commissioned officer in the Indian Army. He is also the first Indian athlete to win the World Under-20 Championships in track and field.

Career
